Mahmoud Hashemir Ashiri, died at Tehran's 70s.

The head of the Expediency Council and former head of the Iranian judiciary, Mahmoud Hashemir Ashiri, died at Tehran's 70s.

He had not attended meetings since the beginning of summer because of illness. The absence and deterioration of Mr. Shahroudi at that time sparked a rumor about his death, although this rumor was later denied.

Mr. Hashemi Shahroudi was arrested in Tehran for a time in a hospital in Tehran. He went to Germany in January of that year to continue his treatment, which was a controversial journey and reactions.

He was named one of the possible successors to the Islamic Republic leader.

Student of Ayatollah Khomeini, prisoner of Saddam Hussein
Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi was born on January 1, 1327 in Najaf, Iraq. His father, Ali Hosseini Shahroudi, is a professor at the seminary of Najaf and his mother is Ali Madid's son, a religious scholar and a resident of the village of Saydan in the current southern Khorasan province.

Mr. Shahroudi completed his elementary education at the Alevi school in Najaf, after which he began studying in the seminary. Ayatollah Mohammad Baqer Sadr and Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini were among the professors of Mr. Shahroudi at the seminary of Najaf.

In 1353, the Iraqi government arrested and imprisoned a group of scholars, especially Iranian clerics and Ayatollah Sadr's clerics, attacking the seminary of Najaf.
